National Museum Čačak is a complex institution dedicated to preserving cultural heritage of Čačak and its surroundings, including Dragačevo and Ivanjica region. The intention to preserve and promote regional, historical, artistic and cultural identity is realized through research and exhibition of past remains. These remains include palaeontological and archaeological artefacts, traditional arts, as well as objects presenting themes from the national and regional history from prehistoric period up to the modern age.

The institution was designed as a regional museum consisting of five departments: Department of Palaeontology, Archaeology, History, Art History and Ethnology. The Museum also possesses a Conservation Laboratory, a Library, a Photo Laboratory and a Guide Service.

National Museum Čačak aims to develop all aspects of museum activities, remain open to the public, and continue increasing life quality, thereof raising the welfare of the entire society and the environment as a whole. Through cultural heritage protection, the Museum has established communication to the public, enhanced exchange of knowledge, ideas and experiences, and supported constant learning process as a part of general tendency to encourage local, regional and national development.
