Since the foundation of the Museum in 1952, the History Department collections have been thematically related to collecting artefacts testifying to Čačak freedom struggle in XIX and XX century. Thus, the collection containing relevant artefacts as belongings of the ruling families (Obrenović and Karađorđević), army generals (Stepa Stepanović and Petar Bojović), distinguished army officers in XIX and XX century (Kosta Protić, Spasoje Tešić and Božidar Terzić), Colonel Dragutin Gavrilović, National hero Ratko Mitrović and General Mihailović (during the Second World War) was set and exposed in 1996.
